I get asked all the time about the coolest wedding venues in Colorado so I thought it was time to type up a little guide for couples who are searching for the perfect spot. A lot of the time I come into a couple’s wedding planning process when they have a date picked out but are still trying to nail down a venue (as a side note, being one of the very first things a couple chooses when planning their wedding? Before they even have a venue picked out? It’s awesome!).
I’m writing this list with my laid-back, outdoorsy couples in mind. These are places with awesome vibes and killer views. They’re the kind of places that adventurous couples (and wedding photographers …) love.
While I have shot at some of these locations there are others on this list that I’m still dying to make a visit to (hint hint …).
Devil’s Thumb Ranch (Tabernash, CO)
Devil’s Thumb Ranch is the perfect spot for a classy wedding with rustic mountain vibes. This place is beautiful, just a short drive from Denver, and perfect for couples who want a mountain “ranch” wedding that still leans toward classy. With lodging and a spa right on site, this is a place that all of your guests will love!
Piney River Ranch (Vail, CO)
Piney River Ranch is a stunning place for a mountain wedding. Say your vows in front of the beautiful Gore Range, go for a canoe ride on the lake, and party the night away in one of the most beautiful venues in Colorado. This is a favorite venue of a lot of photographers I know – and there’s a really good reason for it!
Sapphire Point (Breckenridge, CO)
Sapphire Point is a gorgeous spot for an intimate mountain wedding. It has stunning views and a chill vibe that is perfect for my laid-back, outdoorsy couples. Besides the insane scenery, Sapphire Point has the benefit of being not too far from Denver and being near all of the awesome amenities of Summit County.
Lyons Farmette (Lyons, CO)
I know a lot of wedding photographers and pretty much all of them, myself included, ADORE the Lyons Farmette. This is one of my favorite venues and that’s saying something since its not even really in the mountains. The Farmette is the perfect spot for a rustic farm-inspired wedding – while still being totally classy. Chickens, llamas, alpacas, and an Airstream trailer bridal suite give this place loads of character.
Planet Bluegrass (Lyons, CO)
If you want a wedding with a mountain vibe without leaving the Front Range, Planet Bluegrass is perfect. This venue is rustic meets mountain and it’s incredibly cool. Say your vows next to a rushing creek with a cliff in the background and then hang with your friends and family under string lights or cuddle up next to a bonfire. That sounds awesome, right?
Mt. Princeton Hot Springs (Buena Vista, CO)
If you want to say your vows surrounded by some of the tallest mountains in Colorado, this is a great place to do it. 14,000 foot Mt Princeton towers over this venue. And do I need to mention the HOT SPRINGS?! Heaven! Mt Princeton Hot Springs has plenty of on-site lodging and, best of all, it’s dog friendly!
Mt Crested Butte (Crested Butte)
If you’ve never been to Crested Butte you need to go, like, right now. Crested Butte is one of the most beautiful spots in Colorado and this venue has something for everyone. Want to get married with a killer view of the mountains behind you? You can do that. Want to say you vows surrounded by golden aspens? You can do that too. Want to change it up for your reception? The I-Bar Ranch in nearby Gunnison is a perfect place for a bonfire and s’mores inspired party.
